My husband and I would get burritos and/or soup from Como Esta because it's close to home and the food is ok. We stopped ordering anything with meat long ago because it was always full of gristle. On occassion the rice was undercooked and crunchy, but overall the vegetarian food was fine. Well, today October 8, 07, I orderd tortilla soup. This is the same soup I've ordered for over 3 years now, however today, it was more spicy than usual. (Like eating straight Tobasco sauce spicy.) So I took it back to the register to ask for something different. The manager was incredibly rude, and told me the soup had not changed, and to never order it again. Then, as she relunctly pulled money out of the cash register drawer, she continued to tell me how wrong I was about her food, that she personally oversees everything in the restaurant, that she has been in the restaurant business for years, and I should no longer eat there. What is worse is I had not asked her for a refund yet!
I Never Went Back: Very small restaurant in Midtown, outdoor seating very nice. I found the food to be pretty good, portions a bit on the small side. I guess my biggest issue was I found the pricing a bit high for a place that you order at the counter and then sit down. There are many other Mexican food restaurants that has table service at about the same prices. I found the place pricy for the atmosphere and the quantity of food you are served, kinda felt I was in a fast food Mexican establishment, without the fast food pricing.
Tasty, Inexpensive Mexican Food: This is a small neighborhood taqueria with a very varied menu at reasonable prices. Everyone should find a dish to their liking - for the meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The service was friendly and quick. The portions are large. The location is great - next to Walgreens in Midtown with plenty of parking.
