I must have just chosen the wrong menu item. Rosemary chicken was so dry it almost stuck in my throat. Putting a sprig of fresh rosemary on the top didn't make a difference. Green beans still had stems in on them. Didn't you have time to cut them off? And the curried? couscous was really not to my taste. Patio is wonderful but a little Roundup would take care of some of the weeds growing in the bricks and you might try to level up the tables a bit. Rather pricey for one chicken breast.
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants, and that is saying a lot considering that my wife and I have had poor experiences in most restaurants since moving to Springfield. Cuisine is definitely not the strong point in this city but this quaint and cozy little bistro is bursting with creativity and taste, making it stand apart from the otherwise bleak condition that is springfield dining. If you're looking for a giant buffet with plenty of elbow room to shove down food, this is not for you. However, if you enjoy a generous selection of teas and a more nutritious menu, this should be at the top of your list. I haven't had the pleasure of making a dinner appearance, but their lunches have been amazing every time. The most memorable portion of the experience, though, remains the atmosphere. Thank you guys for adding color to an unpromising gray landscape in Springfield!
The atmosphere is homey and the decor channels shabby chic. It's light and bright, making you feel comfortable as if you've visiting someone's home. It's bigger inside than it looks from the outside. They offer an assortment of hot and iced teas (of course) and the coffee smelled delicious, but I didn't try it. I did have the house iced tea which is an unsweet black tea with a hint of cloves. A drawback is that the only sweeteners offered were sugar and sweet and low. I prefer Splenda myself. The menu was extensive and there were many delicious offerings. I saw some delectable looking quiches pass by. I finally settled on the vegetable pita with the house salad. The salad was served with a slightly sweet vinaigrette and craisins. YUM! The vegetable pita was also excellent. I was too full for dessert, but I did have fun looking in the case. They offered four varieties of cookies, coconut cupcakes and miniature harvest bundt cakes. They all looked delicious. If you plan to go, I recommend having an early lunch at 11 as the restaurant crowds quickly after 12. It really is a best kept secret and I highly recommend it!
