I can't say the food has ever been less than good at Johnny's. However the staff can be a bit aloof at times. Above all else, though, is the turtle cheesecake; without a doubt one of my all time favorites anywhere. Come to think of it, I love italian food, but that cheesecake is really why I go.
Our Ladies Group enjoys dinner at Carrino's many times during the year and each time our party of about 20 leaves there raving about the food and the service. Last Tuesday we were again serviced exceptionally. One of your staff explained he did not know we were coming and sent our waitstaff home so it would be alittle wait. We didn't object since we had more time to eat the wonderful bread and share fellowship. My friend and I ordered the New Tilapia plate at $14.69 and were very disapointed. She sent her plate back because the potatoes were cold and greasy and since I am in the habit of never sending food back, I just place them under my hot talapia. The dish was okay but certainly not worth the price, the cream sauce was running and the food had no other taste but spicey. I regretted ordering the plate because I am always thrilled to eat the Salmon Salad and thought I should try something new. I spoke to my friend yesterday and she agreed I should write and let your company be aware of our unhappiness with your dinner but not your service, which was excellent. Thank you. Linda
Dine In vs Carry Out: If you're staying at the hotel next to Johnny Carino's, just remeber this: Do not carry out to the hotel room... enjoy the dining experience at the restaurant. The portions are larger and the food is just better when you dine in. I live close by the restaurant and thought I would get it to go... not a good choice. I had the veal parmegian and there was hardly enough sauce for the spaghetti and barely any for the veal itself and I was still hungry.I had the same meal in the restaurant and I couldn't finish it because of the huge portions. Pasta meals are excelent and I love their bread and roasted garlic and italian seasoning olive oil. Cheese cake for desert is highly recommended for those who have room for it (lol). The teramisu has a lot to be desired, however (unless it's changed, they use whipped crean instead of custard between the layers of cake - pretty bland). Kids love the pizza.
