Located on the intersection Original Lincoln Highway ( Old Hwy.
U.S.30 )and the Jefferson Hwy U.S.( Hwy 65 ) it is very near the Mythical Crossroads of the Nation, that Colo's City Fathers have long touted as their City's claim to fame.
The Restaurant's location has a long history , but briefly let me capsulize it for U , here .Back in the era when America was falling in love with their automobiles, the Niland's Cafe sprang up as an all inclusive "One Stop" type of place where the traveler could get a motel room for the night, good meals and have his automobile serviced all with in 100 yards of each of these three services.
The Niland Family ran it for many years until John Niland retired from the restuarant business and closed the restaurant and
it then sat empty for about 15 years until the City of Colo and a group of its citizens decided to resurrect and refurbash the motel structures and restaurant business.
Now the Filling Station is bordering on a museum quality structure complete with the old style, hand pump , and glass globed gas pumps. The Motel units have all been remodeled and modernized with operational facilities ,and the Restaurant has a capable and competent management who prepare and serve up a hearty fare for hungry 21st century travelers.
