Best Salad in Scottsdale: I have tried their spinach salad and their bread salad, and both are fantastic.
My vote for Best Neighborhood Restaurant: I am from a a big city in Europe, where we had small kitchens and ate out at restaurants we could walk to nearly every day. The Simple Chef Cafe reminds me of the best of these. Unpretentious, low prices, lots of regulars, but with food that is absolutely delicious and keeps you coming back.
How do they get Turkey this good: I absolutely love the Turkey, so I asked where they buy it, Boars Head, etc? Turns out he cooks his own, and he shared the process. First they soak it for 48 hours in a solution of salt, sugar, fresh orange juice, onions, and a half dozen other ingredients I can't remember. Then he bakes it in his own ovens, just enough to get through a day or two. No wonder you can't get Turkey this good just anywhere. And, they told me that they do this with all of their meats, that everything is 100% fresh, 100% gourmet.
