WOW!!!!! And to think I was the only one to complain about Sands Chevrolet. This company does not belong in business. I bought a 2009 Chevrolet Colbalt from them. First of all I was overcharged for the car. I paid more money for a 2009 than what it costs for a 2010 Cobalt. I was supposed to recieve rebates but got none
I put my $700 down for a down payment and gave them a check for another $300 dollars. I lost my $700.00 and now am afraid I going to lose my $300.00 if I dont stop payment on it.
I drove the car off the lot and drove it for a week. Now because I cant get my insurance company to provide them proof that my insurance is going to pay off my other car which was totaled, they humiliated me, threatened me and harassed me continiously. Finally after a week, they called me and said they wanted the car back and I coudn't keep it. They even told me tht if I didnt bring it back, they would send a tow truck to Flagstaff and bring it back tht way and leave me stranded in FLagstaff.. Nice people, Huh?
After I bought another car, I took thiers back to them, and they said I couldn't return it, that is was mine and I was being charged for it. They lied to me and said no one had claled me, noone had threatened me and that I apparently was lying, in which, they were the one lying to ME!

Now they refuse to give me back my $700.00 dollars and am afraid they will keep my $300.00 dollars. No I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the attorney General Office.

If you have any common sense about you, do not do business with this dealership. THey will rip you off.

Please make sure you let the AZ BBB and attorney general know about this, we just turned in our complaint as well. We are also contacting Channel3 On Your Side to draw even more attention (email: 3OYS@azfamily.com) They let us return our car, and we took back our tradein, however now they won't give us our car title back-essentially stealing our car! Hopefully everyone will start to notice how shady sands is.

i feel sick to my stomach after reading the past reviews, because this is exactly what is happening to me. I was bullied into resigning the contract at a higher interest rate (added a whole nother year to my payments). Even though while purchasing the car i was assured 3 times the 0% financing was approved and everything was ok. Now they are calling AGAIN, and telling me I have to go back in today, because the government is not taking my clunker back. They are saying I have to pay $1500 now, or add it to my payments. I called the governement hotline and they said to contact a lawyer because the dealer is not allowed to ask for more money after the deal is done. I'm a first time car buyer who was trying so hard to not get ripped off. Kinda hard when you can't sort through all the lies and bull. so frustrated!!!!!!

I cannot stress enough... STICK TO YOUR GUNS on this! No matter how friendly the dealer or sales person may seem, they are not your friends! Dealers only make money when you finance a car and make no mistake, they are greedy! Let me save you the money on a legal consultation, this is exactly what our lawyer told us, the initial finance agreement is NOT a legally binding contract UNTIL A BANK OR LENDING INSTITUTION HAS AGREED TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. This is NOT a matter of "love it or leave it", if the dealer is unable to get you financed under the initial terms that you agreed to then you have no legal right to the vehicle and they have no right or authority to force you into signing a new agreement. Unfortunately this shady practice is nothing new for Sands but the only thing you can do is take the car back to the dealer, track down the sleazy sales person who you originally dealt with and hand him or her back the keys and tell them to have a nice day. They will feed you every bull crap line they can come up with to try and scare you into keeping the car but don't stick around to listen. I would also suggest writing a formal letter of complaint to the GM corporate office in Detroit and start naming names... don't get overly emotional, stick to the facts and the more complaints they get about Sands the fewer cars Sands will be allowed to keep on their lot and eventually they will be shut down and we can all happy dance on the sidewalk in front of their failed business. Also file a complaint with anyone and everyone who will listen including the AZ Attorney General.

P.S. make sure you get your trade in returned to you in the same condition you left it and try going to your bank or credit union and find out what kind of financing you can get approved for, there are a few really good lots run by really good people around here who sell cars for $5000 or less but you have to either have cash or outside financing.

Thanks for all of your support DanaC. We did exactly that and returned the car. And yes they were trying really hard not to let us return it, telling us for the millionth time they could get us approved for another rate. We told them there was absolutely no way we would ever purchase a car from them because I'm sure we would just get a call in a couple weeks for more money. We are most certainly going to write corporate and the BBB, and anyone else who will listen!! thanks again for hearing me vent, and we will continue to spread the word on the crookedness of sands!

Why won't Sands stop calling me? My husband and I had the absolute worst experience with the staff there and even had to consult a lawyer to sort through the load of bull they saw fit to plop on us. We signed a conditional sales agreement that stated that we would purchase the vehicle if and only if financing under the set terms was approved, they told us when they handed us the keys that everything was fine, the car was ours, have a nice day and congratulations. We get the car home and don't hear anything for two weeks then all of a sudden they call us back and say that financing never got approved and they never even attempted to get it approved until that day (two weeks later). We returned the car and keys and were then told that we were obligated to sign another contract (which they wouldn't let us see) and that if we refused to sign the contract they would exercise their "dealer's rights" and not only sue us but force us to keep the car and make payments at a much higher interest rate. The sales woman pulled some joe schmoe out of the back (his name is Del), he claimed to be the General Manager but refused to give us a business card of any sort. He went on to tell me that I am stupid and that I had not one clue as to how the car buying process works and that there was absolutely no way they'd be taking the car back even though they told us to return it. The next day I consulted an attorney who informed me that I was correct in returning the vehicle and that Del was basically fully of it. He wrote a letter explaining what happened to the GM Corporate Headquarters in Detroit, the State Attorney General's Office, Better BB, etc. Eventually we got a letter from corporate apologizing and letting us know how each employee involved was being dealt with. We celebrated our small victory and thought that was the end.... so why is Sands still calling us? We get at least one phone call per day (sometimes more) from a sales person asking us to come back in and let them make us a deal... yeah right, as if we trust them after what they put us through. Caller ID says the calls are coming from the same phone number but the guy (different name every time but always sounds like the same person) alternates locations each time he calls (sometimes he says he's calling from Surprise, other times from Glendale). I've asked over and over again that they stop calling us but, it never fails, every day around the same time the phones calls start rolling in.... Obviously they have no respect for anyone.

This is exactly what happened to us in Dec. and we did report it to AZ Attorney General, I hope that you did also. I do not understand the scam they are trying to pull on customers and how this dealer is allowed to stay in business. They should be shut down immediately!

help! this is happening to us right now! we are first time car buyers who were also told we were approved for 0%, agreed on the price, and was sent on our merry way, only to be called back a million times to say we had to come back in and resign under a higher interest rate. we did resign because we felt we had no other choice. Now they are calling again saying the government is not taking our cash for clunkers car, and we have to come back in AGAIN and pay $1500 up front or rolled into our monthly payment. Need help!!
