I ate at Rebo's on the Lake(twice) same owner, similar complaints. I ordered the chile con carne, which was very tasty and spicy, the way I like it,but was served lukewarm, and had WAAAAY too much salt added. I also had the Tijuana trainwreck ,which was very good. I told the waitress about the chile, and my disappointment, but I didn't ask for a discount and none was offered. the second time I ordered the fajitas special, the waitress told me they were $10.95 but was charged $11.95 They were very tasty also, but the corn tortillas that I ordered with them, were drenched in oil, and after I ate most of the fajitas, it was apparent that there was about a 1/4"of oil in the bottom of the serving pan. very unappealling. when I told the waitress about it,and she passed the comment on to the chef, she said he appollogized and knew exactly what she was talking about. My question is why did he send something out of his kitchen that he knew was substandard! No discount was asked for and none was offered. I realize that this is newly opened ,and still working out the bugs, and I feel it has alot of potential, and I love New Mexican food ,so I want them to succeed, and I don't make it a point to try to beat someone out of a meal if it is not perfect. I will give them one more chance, and this time if the meal is substandard,I will refuse to pay and not return.
They WAY overcooked my steak. It took the waitress way too long to check on our meal. When she finally did, my husband was done eating and I only got to eat my side and vegetable. When I sent my steak back I never got anything in return. They only offered me a free drink. I asked for half our bill to be compensated and I only got half off my meal instead. What a JOKE! $9 for a little slab of jambalaya and 3 stalks of woody asparagus is in no way acceptable!! Anywhere I have ever eaten and was unhappy about the food, I have at LEAST gotten my meal for FREE if not the whole meal, aside from drinks, have been compensated. I have never been to a business with such poor customer satisfaction.
Delicious carribean style pork with pineapple-cilantro salsa. A refreshing break from the chain restaurants and the steak/burger/sandwich pubs. Very laid back atmosphere with brightly colored walls but not too many kitchy items. I went on a Wednesday night and ate at the bar. Service was fine but not super fast. Meal, desert and a drink was $23 + tip.
