On a recent weekday evening, my husband and I chose to treat ourselves to a carry-out meal from Rochester Deli. We had a very disappointing experience. Items were left out of our carry-out order, the chicken salad had an odd taste--no chicken flavor, and was quite gloppy (I could not eat it), the torte's frosting taste and texture was like Crisco with a bit of powdered sugar, the cheesecake was very dry and low in flavor, the $6.50 sandwiches were way overpriced for the quality and size, the side salads are miniscule (approx. 2 Tbsp.), and the server who answered the phone when we called from home upon discovering the missing soup from our order was not graciously apologetic. She did credit our charge card for the omission. We discovered my husband's roast beef sandwich did not have the ordered cheese when we sat down to eat. We could not call back about that omission, as the shop had closed by then. We had lovely, tasty sandwiches from this shop shortly after they first opened for business, and we were sorely disappointed with the entire experience this time. We will not return.

The first time I tried this place I was hooked. My finace and I tried it because we wanted somewhere new with something different. He loves the "Reuben" and I have enjoyed the wraps and several of the sandwiches. The staff is very busy but are just as friendly. We have been there several times and will continue to come back...highly recommend.
