My wife and I passed the Whitlock Tavern about 100 times since we moved to South Brunswick and then finally I was in the mood to try something new... and oh boy!!!! At first site this restaurant looks very normal but once you order get ready for your taste buds to take a rollercoaster ride of their lives!!! I have been in the food business for about 10 years and I also graduated from culinary school and the Whitlock Tavern is probable in the top 10 restaurants on the pure food alone!!! It was a great food experience and I strongly suggest eating there and treating your taste buds to a trip!!!

I do have to say the waiter could of had a little more personally but he was young and still training but all in all I give this place a 5 star rating on the food.

Living 1 mile away, the Whitlock Tavern has become a home away from home. Relaxing atmosphere in a nice, scenic location. I enjoy the Prime Rib special and the 1/2 price wine nights. This gives a chance to sample some good wines at reasonable prices. I ordered the salmon with crab stuffing and it was properly cooked. Service was good with a friendly waitress. The salad greens are fresh and the balsamic dressing is tasty and I recommend it. I have scheduled large parties - on prime rib night, and the kitchen was able to respond with no problems. Look for the coupon in Clipper Magazine and save $10. Lunch is reasonably priced and service is good.

Help!!! Whitlock needs Gordon Ramsey...this is a Kitchen Nightmare!!
My husband orders the Shrimp & Scallop Fettucine Alfredo without the scallops. The waitress brings the dish with the scallops. It comes back looking like it was nuked, no cream, just oil in overcooked egg noodles.
I orderd the Chilean Sea Bass and it was a huge piece, however the outsides were overcooked and rubbery, while the inside was raw and smelled fishy..a no no...(means the fish is old). They took it back and asked if I wanted anything else, I refused, since it took too long in the first place. We ordered the Creme Brulee which tasted more like lemon custard than vanilla and not at all the consistency of a true Brulee. The entertainment was on the same lines as an American Idol audition! The waitress was extremely rude and I still gave her $10 tip for a $46 bill. Will not come back!
