We had been to Yellowfinâs once before during the summer of 2007 and left feeling the meal was mediocre and not becoming of the atmosphere the restaurant projected. Having read some of the negative reviews, we were a little tentative about going back for a second try. Once again, we found the restaurant clean, neat and well decorated â not overly done by any means and very comfortable from the music to the high quality linen table cloth to the nice flatware. We each chose an entrée that came with a salad for starters, which was excellent, fresh and flavorful, accompanied by home-made crusty French bread with a side of Kateâs home-made local butter â itâs nice to see support of local industry. Our meals were excellent; presentation was A+++, while the food was hot, flavorful and of generous portion. I had the chicken Marsala which was juicy and strongly flavored with the wine and mushrooms, along with garlic mashed potatoes (excellent, with skins) and the vegetable of the day, buttered carrots, which were sweet and fresh as well. My wife ordered the penne pasta with vodka sauce and shrimp, which was spicy, tasty and plentiful, though my wife noted that the pasta was just a tad beyond al-dente, but not in any way poorly presented. We passed on the desert only because we were full, though the options sounded good for a summer evening â lemon meringue and key lime pie. As we were completing our meal, the chef/owner (David) asked how our meal was; I think itâs important and meaningful when the owner/chef approaches their âaudienceâ and asks for feedback. We had nothing but good things to say. He did mention that he took over the restaurant about two years ago, which we felt was responsible for the excellent meal. We felt that the price was very reasonable as well. Weâll be back.
The ambiance is worth 6 or 7 stars; the food averages around a 3; if you bring your own wine and good friends the whole experience is definately a 5!!!! Sometimes it is not always just about the food. And if you don't think the service is adequate please tell Dave the owner/cook - otherwise, how else can they improve?!
I frequent Yellowfin's and always get a great meal and service. I don't know why some of these reviews are negative. Alot of my friends dine here also and I have never heard of one of them having a bad visit. I would definitely reccomend trying it for yourself. FYI the hours are incorrect they serve brunch sat/sun and open 7 nights right now.
