Poor service and poor food. I used one of my two gift certificates today at JL. The food was so bad, I am not even going to use my other certificate. I am going to give it to my annoying neighbor so that he can go there and get sick, like how I got sick.
Both Shanghai and Joy Luck have fine food. And I know this bc i spent 2 months in China recently and I must say that the chinese food here is by far better. I do however see much improvement for the staff that do not know anything about the food. Our table asked 5 questions one of them being as simple as what is in this soup? The Waiter simply had no clue. Great place can be improved.
This is actually Shanghai #2, because it's the same owners. And because it's Shanghai #2, this is strictly for the GWEILOS! Sorry folks, this ain't Chinese food, this is AMERICAN CHINESE food. I went there with a bunch of friends (not my choosing), and the food is worse than Shanghai, and I don't like Shanghai! Tasteless, greasy and expensive. Yuck. If you want to take a date for the River Park decor and the pretentious PK Chang's food styling and prices, this is the place. If you want REAL Chinese food, go to Golden Dynasty or Imperial Garden for a great meal.
