I've been to Moe's a few times, the last being in Aug '09. I've never been unhappy. The workers are quick but you just need to keep an eye on them. Sometimes when they are busy I think they don't always hear if you ask for extras. I've ordered quesadillas before & they forget the sour cream, etc. But if I ask for it they don't give attitude. Once I went in & they were out of something I wanted. It was being heated on the stove & took much longer then they expected. The girl gave me a $5 credit for having to wait. This was great customer service & made up for my annoyance for having to wait. The prices are high but I think you get what you pay for - the servings are always huge & I am always left very full!
It's important to know what to expect when going to Moe's. It is NOT a full-service restaurant. It is more like a Subway serving Tex-Mex.
We ordered the Homewrecker burrito and a similar burrito that did not include guacamole. They come with a choice of grilled meat - we both choice fajita beef. Price: $5.99-$6.99. They were HUGE and each came with tortilla chips on the side, as well as an extra basket of tortilla chips. There is a salsa bar with 6 different kinds and you help yourself.
I was not impressed by the making of my burrito. The whole restaurant was staffed by sullen looking teenagers, and the boy who built my burrito just threw things in, so that ultimately, all my guac and sour cream were in one corner of the burrito, all the rice and beans in the other corner. My husband really liked his burrito, but I was underwhelmed.
The chips were okay, as were some of the salsas (although one of them tasted like tomato paste more than anything else). I ordered a side of guacamole - a cup for $2.99 is expensive, and it looks like they mixed it almost 50/50 with salsa. It was underwhelming, not very flavorful, not enough garlic or lime.
The booths were all dirty - clearly none of the teenagers wanted to get out there with a rag.
If you're looking for a nice hot meal with some ambiance, this is not the place. If you need a quick tex-mex fix, this might do, but I'd get it to go and find a nearby park to eat.
My family went to Moe's on Nov. 15, 2008. We were greeted by a menu with cute names for the dishes. (That was the high point of the meal.) I ordered an overachiever's combo. With this I received two tacos and some chips (many broken - I'm guessing from the bottom of the bag - I was under the impression something more came with the meal but the beans were going to be put on taco so I really do not know if I received the whole combo or not). My son ordered fajita's next, he was greeted with a lump of taco meat. (This was indeed a stroke of luck for him, since he left and went next door for Chinese - he had a very good meal.) Not so lucky for my husband since he took the fajitas or ground taco meat. The final order was another overachiever combo. So for just under $30 we received 4 tacos, three drinks, broken chips, a lump of meat with three tortillas and a reprimand from the cashier (my son said she gave me very dirty looks when I asked what cup I was suppose to take for the drinks. Then we went to set down. The floor had trash a variety of broken chips on it. I'm really not sure how this place is doing business, for about the same price we could have gone to Don Pablo's. Although the concept of Moe's seems good, the reality is that it the equivalent of a low end but more expensive Taco Bell. The food did taste okay - we ate it - we did enjoy Tums for dessert. We will never go back.
