| About: | Singapore for almost 200 years has been at the crossroads of Southeast Asia, where many cultures and nationalities live, work and more importantly, eat together. Singapore's cuisines logically reflect this cultural diversity. The four major culinary cultures -- Malaysian/Indonesian, Chinese, Indian and Nonya -- are in fact a blend of each other, creating a new cuisine that is unique and more complex in flavors and fragrances. Straits offers a menu that features the complexity of all these Singaporean cuisines in chef Chris Yeo's unique interpretation. This Asian-Zen inspired Burlingame location opened in August of 2004. |

Been there four times with my wife but we decided not to go there any more.
1)The food is good and we like it.
2)The servers are good and polite- a little slow sometimes but overall good. The bossers are awesome and very attentive.
3)The live music is VERY loud and no one seems to really care about it. Once the music starts it is really difficult to hear each other and that gets on your nerves.
3)Very UNcomfortable chairs and tables. I am a normal size person and I have serious problem with the way their tables have been designed (you kind of have to fold your feet and will come back home with back pain!!) -- you'll know what I mean once you dine in there.
4)The worst thing that really pissed us off was their reservation system. Each time we did a reservation we were delayed and dissapointed- they do not respect the reservation, and again they seem to care less if you are waiting.
Every time we reserved a table we had to wait for 25 to 35 minutes, so I don't understand what's the logic behind the reservation? We'd very much like to just walk into the restaurant, but when we called for the first time to check the restaurant out they said that we'd better have a reservation. If a restaurant can't manage it's reservation system whay the heck you still need to reserve for it?!!! Anyways, to cut the story short, the last time that we went there it took them, believe me, 45 min to sit us!!! and that was it for us--- very rude and careless hostess that night (she never apologized for it), except a gentleman who would occassiobally come and tell us that he would sit us soon.
anyways, even though I like the food, I think the management is total disaster and I just wished that I could continue going there.
Great food and drinks: Nice trendy spot. The roti app is great. I like the small plate idea so that you can share. We ordered the sea bass which was fantastic. Nice and light with lots of flavors.
Aweful sound system, rule manager: The sound system was aweful, the music was loud enough so that we couldn't hear each other on the table. The manager was rude, effectively refusing to lower the volume. As a result, I left even before food was served.
