I think that the pizza is outstanding. It ends there. Very uncomfortable seating and very very overpriced for the type of restaurant you are dining in. The pizza was great. Certainly not worth the long wait or the noise. I have had much better Italian food but the wood fire pizza was again, great.
This is as good as it gets for a neighborhood Italian restaurant.
I am thankful it is near enough to walk from my house. This is not a corporate Italian experience, this is home style. The portions and price are generous.
If someone has been to Italy, one would know there are several types of restaurants, just as here. Osteria is a kind of experience, family oriented, sharing style, tables close together, a truly neighborhood experience.
Personally, I loved the Cioppino. I also love the smoked salmon on white beans.
Not meant to be the best Italian restaurant around, but a great neighborhood experience. Its a meal not marriage.
OVERPRICED AND MOBBED!!!
We went to this "hot spot" for a Birthday Dinner. I recommend reservations as the place was packed and the line waiting was long. The tables and chairs belong at an Elementary School and very uncomfortable.
I have traveled all over Italy many times for many years. The Cioppino was recommended by the waiter over the Seafood pasta as he said there was more seafood and we would not be able to finish it all.
We had the calamari appetizers which were good. We each ordered the Cioppino. The Cioppino was hardly so much that we could not finish it, four of us all finished it easily. It was good, not fantastic. It was just OK. Not the best I have had for certain.
The deserts, Tiramusi was dry, not authentic and not very good at all. Glad there was chocolate sauce over it to make it somewhat moist. Creme Brule was small but good.
What truly was upsetting is that we had reservations, specified three times it was a birthday celebration, and it was completely ignored. I found the service, while friendly was not attentive, the place was mobbed and loud, and the level of comfort in the chairs was non existent.
Finally, the bill was well over $200 for 4 people.
For a glorified wood burning pizza place (and the pizza looked great I might add) this is NOT the spot for a special event and the quality and quantity of the food does not warrant the price we paid.
So my recommendations are as follows:
Make reservations no matter what day or time you are going
Order the pizza and forget the rest as it is very overpriced including the wine list (which was good I must admit)
Don't plan on comfort in your seating
Don't go there for a special occasion, there are better Italian spots nearby (very) on Broadway for that with ambiance and much better service, and finally,
Good luck finding a place to park!
