Terrible food..terrible service.. don't waste your money here.
We had dinner deservations for 7.30 and we got there on time. Ordered two appetizers ( triangles with crab meat) & chicken satay. Triangles came after 30 minutes and was lcold. Taste was just passable. After another agonizing wait for the satay, when we asked the waiter to check on it, he rolled his eyes and walked to the kitchen in an apparent display of boredom. Finally the satay came and it was nothing to rave about. Then the wait for the entrees followed. The garlic and pepper chicken was oily and clearly had an overdose of salt. We called the waiter, told him it was really salty and he picked it up and walked back into the kitchen without a word. We cancelled that order but later he brought back another plate and asked us to try it. We politely refused. The other entree (musamman curry) was decent. They did not include the salty entree in our tab. We just packed the musamman curry, paid and left. Not a soul near the entrance, no manager, no waiter.. Do not waste your time and money on this excuse of a restaurant.
And oh, btw, if u don't find street parking ( which is pretty limited around the location), it's $10 to park in the lot opposite the place.
This restaurant is terrible. While the decor inside is nice and the menu is attractive, the service and food itself leaves much to be desired. I ordered a yellow curry with beef and a spice level of 8- a standard dish for a thai restaurant, but somehow the kitchen managed to fail miserably. The curry resembled a bowl of warm coconut milk with carrots and potatoes, with none of the aforementioned beef or spice. While I understand that different restaurants have different concepts of "spice", I would not think that a spice level "8" at a thai restaurant would be entireley bland. When I brought this to the attention of the waiter, he question my knowledge of the 1-10 spice scale and asked "Well you do know it's an "American 8", not a "Thai 8"?
I almost considered my curry mishap to be a case of the kitchen delivering the wrong order, but the rest of my table had an equally poor experience. My friend order the "crying tiger steak", which is by far the worst meal that I have ever tasted in my life - It's pretty much carne asada with siracha hot sauce. When I informed the staff of the poor quality of the food, they seemed surprised - as if they had never heard a complaint before.
Despite the prices and nice decor, Rama fails to deliver. Spices is better than this for about half the price.
It was just OK. Better Thai food in the Kearny Mesa area. Better Thai food in other parts of San diego. Would not go back.
