| About: | With an atmosphere that borders on dive, a large number of domestic and imported beers on tap, and boisterous live music, it is small wonder that the Wonderland Ballroom has become a local favorite. Unlike some of the trendier establishments in the city, this unpretentious bar offers a laid-back vibe with its worn wood-paneled interior and roomy outdoor patio (a great place to cool off after a bout of dancing inside). Also be sure to check out the pub-grub menu, with such notable favorites as the Motor City Chili Dog. When in search of a night out that doesn't require the latest in fashion, or if you just want to share an inexpensive pint with new friends, the Wonderland Ballroom has it covered in the Columbia Heights / Mount Pleasant district. |

Evan this is a Dive bar in Columbia Heights DC!!! Of course the atmosphere is ugly and the neighborhood questionable. You better just stick to Dupont Circle if you are too good for this neighborhood establishment. You will fit in better amongst the idiotic dance club martini sipping popped collar douche crowd. And we'll be happy not having to listen to your retarded stories about how Blake and Kelly got too wasted and gave each other herpes after kickball practice.
Stale, pricey beer.
Awful food.
Service was very bad across the board.
Overcrowded, ugly decor, iffy neighborhood.
The dance floor is a joke at best, a hazard at worst.
Avoid this place.
They just canned their best bartender: Apparently, she was too friendly with the regulars and the owners are looking to appeal to a more mainstream, less tattooed crowd. It's too bad. Good, friendly bartenders who not only know what everyone is drinking but also care enough to tell people that maybe they've had enough, are rare. People who just sling drinks are not.
