In a sea of beer snobs, Southern Brew is an island of down-to-earth folks ready and willing to help. If you're not sure what kind of beer you want to brew, you can literally walk in and rifle through their dozen "cookbooks," and then an employee will walk you around the shop and show you where to get everything. If you've never brewed before, or are a novice, you know what a relief it is to find such great help! If you're a pro and you know your way around a grain mill, you will be 100% impressed with their selection of gadgets, grains, and hops. If you're interested in learning how to brew, at either beginner or advanced levels, they offer monthly demonstrations (plus hotdogs!).
By the way, if you haven't been in a while (over a year), the place is remodeled - it's now air conditioned, closed off, and they have an *electric* grain mill! Yeehaw!
my husband and I went to southern brew this afternoon, it was great for people making their home brew, wine, they have all you need. not sure what kind you want they have a book to look thru and see what you need to make your own style. we will be going back every time we need anything for our new batch of beer. we are even going to try our hand in the wine kits they have too.
