As a recent graduate of Naperville Skin Institute, I would rank this school as âAverageâ to âBelow Average.â The instructors knowledge as estheticians is only from being previous students without any âreal worldâ experience. There was neither structure nor discipline (i.e. class is supposed to begin at 9 am, but students punch in, take off to get coffee then return about 9:15ish holding up the other students). The facial machines were not properly maintained and probably not the safest to use on clients as well as on students. Management handles the school as a business without any regard for the studentsâ education.
Yes, I did receive a lot of hands on practice on both students and clients using BioElements and Eminence; but due to the cost of those products, they are now using an unknown brand called Only Yours. They are trying to use up BioElements while short changing both clients and students by not having all the proper products for the protocol (again business without regard for education).
A quote from their website â. . ., you will master techniques in completing facials with machines such as microdermabrasion, high frequency, and galvanic. You will also learn the art of client communication, customized client treatments, product knowledge, and prescriptive retailing.â I wish there was more training for that statement.
I understand there are changes happening at the school and hopefully for the better. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do your research on other schools before making your final decision.
Naperville Skin Institute has a great Esthetics program. I look forward to going to school everyday and have learned a lot in the 2 months I've attended. You are able to get a lot of hands on experience everyday and the instructors are attentive, approachable and knowledgeable. They are also open to feedback, enthusiastic and motivating which makes for a positive and fun environment. Any who say different are unmotivated, negative individuals who are not right for this industry anyway. If you are interested in Esthetics, definitely check out NSI!
The staff is wonderful and caring. The manager Kristine, teachers- Cassandra, Maria, and Dianna are good people and ALWAYS have a positive additude. I do not know if I would make it through school without their great energy, they keep the school going and keep us wanting to come back.
The education does not meet the expectations of a student willing and wanting to learn the industry. The text book is a great one, but the school needs to find resources outside the MiLady book. The only information we learned was from the book, we need more than just that. I must say that I am disappointed in my education with this school.

On the positive side, I did get lots of hands on practice on both students and clients. The skin care line BioElements is excellent and I am thankful that I was able to work with it. Another great thing that came out of NSI, are the friends I have made.
