We regularly watch Guy on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives and were traveling on US 169 so we decided to pick some places Guy featured for our dining stops. This should not have been one of our choices. We ordered the Buffalo Turd appetizer and the BBQ Platter. The appetizer was good but the plain ranch dressing dip was disappointing. The platter had brisket which was ok, pulled pork which was better, sausage that had a weird consistency but tasted ok, ribs with meat that was dryer than the bone it was bonded to & chicken wings that were the same as the ribs. I've had better bbq at fast food places.
I really enjoyed the flavor and found the service to be typical of small town cafes. I do think it is lame however that when we ask the manager said they can only do pulled meats not sliced.)
We made the 45 minute drive because of the piece on The Food Network and we were really disappointed. The biggest problem was the service. Rude and slow. And the food was cold. The meat was tasty and the sauce was okay but neither came close to making up for the overall experience. And we watched other diners being treated rudely, not just us. One family walked out without ordering. They really need to get someone in there who knows how to run things up front. They have a sign that says "Warm Beer, Cold Food, Bad Service, Have a nice day" I'm assuming that is meant to be facetious but it's actually quite accurate.
