I went to Lucky Sushi today. Yes, it is a mom and pop place, only they arent old, they are young with very small kids that run around.

I have NO idea why anyone would drive 5 minutes let alone an hour and 20 min to this place. I tried it because I was close to it today.

The lady was EXTREMELY nice. She was nice and fast.

That does not make up for the downs of there though.

When I walked in I was the only customer. She immediately greeted me and I sat down. I was by myself, as I was out shopping and love sushi so I decided to try it. She was extremely nice. I ordered one california roll, iced tea, water and shrimp tempura.

I was fine and happy until after she took my order. Then her son, who is 5, came out and started running all over the area. This place is very small. He was running circles around the middle tables banging on them as he ran around them. Then he came up to me and asked if I was too big to sit in the chair I was sitting in. He asked me probably 5 times until he forgot about it and went on to show me his new game he got for Christmas, Mouse Trap. I am not a tiny person, but I am not the side of a barn either. I am 5 foot 10 and am about 200 pounds. The lady never stopped him or corrected him. Now, I understand he is a child and he doesnt understand what he should and shouldnt say so I let that go. But it did rub me the wrong way. Then a guy came in to pick up a to go order and he was talking to the guy (who seemed to be a regular) and asking him what the spots on his ear and neck was. He kept telling the kid they were moles and the kid goes eww gross I dont have any moles! He then kept harrassing the guy about his "spots". Off and on from the time he told me I was too big for the chair until the time I left he kept coming over and sitting with me while I ate and brought his game over to put together on my table.. while I was eating.

At this point I got my food. Yes, it came fast but the sushi was the quality of sushi you would buy at a grocery store. The rice was ice cold and the roll was stiff like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while.

Then I got my shrimp tempura. The shrimp was good and hot. However, it was not tempura style. It was shrimp covered in panko and fried. It had no tempura batter on it. The sauce was a sweet sauce, it wasn't like a tempura sauce at all and it didnt come out in a bowl. Instead she gave me the squeeze bottle from the fridge and a bowl to pour it in. It was ok but it was not what tempura should be by any means.

Then when she was checking on me here comes a little girl screaming and crying probably 2 years old (the boy told me he was 5, why I knew) and running through the dining room.

I completely understand people bringing their kids to work when they own the business but there is some things that they need to watch out for with the kids.

This place is not traditional sushi by any means. People see the "All you can eat Sushi for $19.99" and no matter how bad it is or their experience there is they think they are getting a deal and will rave about it. I had one roll at $5.95 and my tempura was $13.99 and my tea $2.00(that I never got a refill on) plus tax ... my bill was $24 for myself plus a $6 tip, totaling $30.00 for ONE person for 3 items. I did not like the place but I wasn't going to screw her out of a tip.

This place had the most common rolls but lacked a variety.

All in all I will never go back. I can get better sushi from Dierbers Mr. Sushi deli bar if I was looking for sushi like this. My favorite sushi place is still Crazy Sushi, a mile from them, and will be.

I love love LOVE this place. I just started eating there about a month ago and I will never try another place because there is no need. The restuarnt is very clean and relaxing, the people are friendly and the quality and taste of the food and sushi is AMAZING! Not to mention the very cheap prices. I'm glad I live in St. Peters. I hope they never leave.

I love Lucky's! They are always friendly, great coupon deals, good quality sushi, and very fast. Not only is their sushi good, but so are their traditional american chinese dishes. Like the below reviews said, it is very much a mom and pop place, but that's part of what I like about it. They recognize their repeat customers and you can tell. I love the Rainbow rolls, well, actually just about any of the rolls except for the americanized cream cheese ones, or tempura because I have never tried them. I haven't had any problems with portion sizes. They are convenient and yummy! If you like Lucky's, don't bother trying Ariake's sushi in the same plaza, you will be dissapointed even though they have a more exotic selection of seafood (assuming they actually have it in stock).
