WOW! So I'm in the area for work a few days, and I thought to myself - "I'd love a great dinner." The hotel listed a number of chain dumps (Applebees, Cracker Barrel, and the like), and this place. Since the word 'Grille' was in the name, I figured they had to be capable of coming up with something decent. I was totally caught off guard, as everything from my fried calamari appetizer and local microbrew to the amazing lamb, wild boar, and chicken sausage mixed grill kept a smile on my face! Perfect flavors, texture, and ambiance.
Cant wait til tomorrow ...
I would never have thought that a little South New Jersey town like Mt. Holly would have a grill that had at least 15 craft beers and great food!
I had the "Hoppy" wings with bleu cheese sauce. Excellent! They weren't hot and they weren't BBQ style, but something very unusual and full of flavor. I think that they use beer in the sauce.
The other customers around me who ordered a meal looked as if they were enjoying their selections. I will have to order a full dinner the next time I'm in South New Jersey.
Granted, it was off season when I visited, so all of the folks in the place were locals, but everyone was very friendly and was having a good time.
Service was very good and the bartender knew his beers. They even have a special machine that sucks the air out of opened wine bottles to keep their wine fresh.
This place tries to pass itself off as high class cuisine and grossly misses the mark. The food is almost inedible - an over-ambitious chef/owner apparently is lacking his taste buds. I had the duck dish with couscous - hard to go wrong, right? It was absolutely disgusting - and I love duck. The service was decent - I do not blame the waitstaff as they are not responsible for the food. The poor waitress could tell that we were all less than enthusiastic about our dinners. Walk a little further down High Street and opt for Robin's Nest or go the opposite way into Burlington and try Cafe Gallery - the food is worth the prices you pay!
