I cannot express how TERRIBLE the service was. Appointments were not kept, it was just first come first serve. So the first time I waited half an hour. I tried my wedding dress on the first time and she didn't even measure me! No tape measure, pins or anything! She just had me take it off and tell me to come back in two weeks. I come back two weeks later and NOTHING has been done to the dress (she was supposed to be done with bodice). She told me it was because she had a problem with what she wanted to do and was going to try something else. That's fine...but WHERE was the PHONE CALL? That's just common courtousy. For a bussell, the hem taken up and the bodice let out she was charging me almost 400 dollars! After realizing she hadn't done anything with the dress and the fact that she was wasn't even taking measurements, I felt uneasy about her. That's when I decided I was going to pick the dress up. I called first to let her know I was coming. She told me on the phone that the work she had done already was worth $25 and the fitting is $25 (since the time I stopped in before and then going to pick it up, she had ripped the skirt from the bodice and cut up the shawl that went with it.) I questioned her on this since a sign in her shop says "There will be a $10 fitting fee with no alterations." I think this was fair and resonable and was willing to pay it. So I thought I would pay $35 bucks. Nope, it was $50 because she charges $25 for GOWN fittings, and that sign only pertains to dresses. First off, I thought it WAS a dress. Second, NOWHERE does that sign say anything about dresses vs. anything else....it just says ten bucks. So she started yelling at me saying I was telling her how to run her store. I realize I was getting nowhere and was just going to work it out when I got there. When I arrived, she was there and told me she was going to charge me $10 for the fitting and decided that the work she hade done was worth $40. I guess her prices aren't firm...it's whatever her mind tells her to charge at that moment. When I questioned her on it, that's when her husband walked over to me, got IN MY FACE and yelled at me! I am mean YELLED! He threatened to take me to court for payment because I questioned what she was charging me vs. what her sign said. Don't get me wrong, I was willing to pay what was right and fair. I guess I just thought that the price stated on the sign in HER shop was fair. So finally I hand my card over (is being yelled at worth $15?) and she says she only takes cash. I asked her where it said that and she points to a sign that says she only takes cash. Again, I find taking only cash reasonable. What I DON'T find reasonable is that the sign that says "cash only" she follows, but the sign that says fittings are ten bucks is up for discussion and not followed. Not to mention the fact that she comes up with a number to charge you. There is no receipt or some sort of documentation saying what she is charging for what job. There is no paperwork, no set price for ANYTHING! (especially that wedding gowns cost more to fit than dresses. Course, I'm not sure it was really a fitting. I tried the dress on for about 30 seconds and she pinched together the back and said "I see what you mean." No measurements or real fitting.) She makes up a number and that's what you pay. That's just ridiculous. If she is going to make nearly $400 off me, you would think she would keep her appointments with me, actually measure me, and meet the deadlines. Last thing she said to me was good luck finding anyone who could save my dress. And that they would do it the same way and charge me the same price. Needless to say, I went somewhere else. He got the SAME job done for a third of the price.
Anna is a miracle worker! She saved my daughter's wedding gown just a few days before her wedding! The gown was already fitted once before, by another tailor, but at this point my daughter was literally swimming in her gown! I think she had lost some weight, and the first tailor didn't quite fit her into her dress...and instead, used expensive undergarments to try and fit it to her. It seemed hopeless till we met with Anna! She took one look at the added undergarments my daughter purchased to have the dress fit, and told her to take them off, they would only end up making her sweat and drag her down by the end of the evening. She fit the DRESS perfectly to my daughter's frame and she looked and felt fabulous in her dress, no extra padding needed! Anna worked her magic, and with two days to go, she made the dress fit absolutely like a glove! We highly recommend Anna to you, she's a wonderful person and very talented seamstress who you can trust to do the job right!
My daughter looked beautiful!!: I took my daughter to Anna's to have her prom dress taken in and shortened. To my suprise, Anna suggested adding cups and beads that made the dress dazzle on my daughter. (She used to design dresses) Additionally, her price was very affordable compared to what the dress shop wanted to charge for alterations. I highly recommend Anna. I plan on going to her when my son gets married.

This Comment is a total lie!!!! Or the customer cannot read. I have personally been going to and sending Anna's Alterations customers for over 20 years and no one has said they dont know Anna"s policies or that her prices are to high.I have sent at least 150 or more people to Anna's with nothing but wonderful things to say and how happy they were that they found someone who does Professional !!! Work. I would highly recommend Anna's tailoring to anyone if you are looking for Professional work at a great price.
Yikes, thanks for the review! I definitely won't be going here!
I am in need of alterations on a wedding dress and want to make sure the person is good and repuatable. Can you tell me where you ended up going? Thanks!
The top comment was NOT a lie. This was the experience I had, whether you seem to believe it or not, but you weren't there. Policies and prices are not clear and written down, so this can lead to much miscommunication. Signs on the wall say that a fitting for a dress is 10 dollars That sign was not followed. Nowhere was there a separate sign for gowns. However, the sign that was followed was "cash only." Seems ironic that one sign is not followed but another is, yet all were her policies. All that aside, miscommunication does not answer for the fact that her husband got right in my face, and I mean IN my face, and threatened and yelled at me - totally uncalled for. As for where I wound up going - an alteration place in Packett's Landing in Fairport, NY called Zeki's Tailor Shop. He was reasonably priced, kept appts and deadlines and actually wrote down how much he was charging for what service. The result on my wedding dress was BEAUTIFUL - he did a great job!
