I never imagined I'd bother to write a review about delivery food, but here I am. An on-going kitchen remodel has unfortunately meant four straight weeks of take out or delivery food. We initially went with BG's, which has long been our "go-to" restaurant for good quality, quickly delivered fast food. The quality of their food and the menu diversity has always been a cut above local competitors, and they've been reliable for years. Last month, however, things seemed to have gone horribly awry (under new management, maybe?), with serious problems in 6 of 8 orders placed over a 2 week period. These include, but aren't limited to: several orders that took over 60 minutes for delivery (and not during peak hours); 4 orders which had items missing from them; 3 orders which contained burned food; and 1 order which was just plain the wrong order ("uh.. somebody musta delivered yours to another house - do you want this one or what?"). Customer service is beyond awful, absolutely non-existent. It's sad, because BG's food really was quite decent for take-out, their baked ziti was fabulous, and they used to get your food to you in 30-40 minutes. Alright, so this is supposed to be a Taj review and here goes: best service I've encountered in Binghamton. Polite, prompt (30 minutes), well-packaged delivery. The food is.. well, let's call it a 'mixed bag' - the vegetable curry was sub-par (mushy, and tasted like something that came from a Sysco truck), the chole passable (points for spicy, though), the mango lassi quite good, and, ironically, the condiments surpassed the entrees - the little containers of green sauce (vibrant, and with a wonderful complex layering of flavors) and some kind of red hot/sweet schmear were fantastic, and went beautifully with the nice still-warm naan. The uninspired Curry was overpriced, but overall I recommend Taj, and will order from them again.
