I went there for lunch today with a friend. NEVER again. I said it before and I'll say it again, OVERRATED & OVER PRICED! I ordered calamari and a tomato pie. How could you mess that up? I took a few bites and decided to pay my bill and leave. It didn't help that the servers would come behind the bar and discuss their personal lives like there was nobody at the bar. I didn't need to know which waitress had bad cramps. Here is my advice. Walk across the street and go to the Philadium. Good food for half the price.

Thinking of going to Chickie and Petes or the Philadium? Thumbs up to the Philadium for great food and drink at a reasonable price. Thumbs down to Chickie and Petes and George Smith Towing in Philadelphia.

The location, Packer Ave down by the stadiums in South Philadelphia. Had never been to this location for a bite and brew but was asked to meet some friends at the Philadium. Frankly I had no idea Chickie and Petes was located in the lot where I parked, across from the Philadium. Call me not city smart I guess.

So had tickets to a Phillies game and was looking for the Philadium, found it easy enough. I see a lot off the street and NO apparent signs about not being able to park there. You see this lot has two entrances and the one I chose was NOT marked and NO signs aiming in this direction! I lock the truck, see a local thug sitting on a wall by the lot (by the way this is a nice area and the thug stood out) and walked over to the Philadium. An hour later, go to leave and no truck! The thug is the lookout who calls the truck and this all under Chickie and Pete's direction.

So off to find the tow lot. It is NOT close! Gonna cost you some bucks via cab! Cab driver probably in on it all too! Youe arrive at this seedy part of town and approach the building. A bullet proof window with a ragged shade covers it. Up pops the shade and yet another thug with less than basic English skills attempts communication. What? Huh? Speak up I say! Funny, when he said 180 bucks to get your truck back it was clear.

Thus another story of the tow truck scammers and business they use them in Philadelphia. It is a setup from the word go and I'm sure others have been burned similar. As for Chickie and Petes ? Yea right. Do a search and see for yourself, this low life overpriced chain tows people who drink there all night, play it safe calling a cab and leave their cars there overnight!

Again, loved South Philly, great people, love the Flyers, Eagles and Phillies but Chickie and Peets will never see a dime of mine...wait...they got a cut of the 180.00 I'm sure!

By the way, honestly, Im the kind of person had I seen I wasn't supposed to park there and did anyway I had it coming to me but this was a huge scam that the City of Philadelphia must crack down on.

If Chickie and Petes had any class they would hire a person to patrol the lot and chase you, not ruin your night and make you miss a game.

That's Philthydelphia for the Jersey person,I guess it's like oil and water...don't mix. I had the same probs from the very beginning and it's even worse when you live there!

Very overrated place. Me & my finance went there a while ago, looking for a new place to eat. So, having not been there before, we decided to try it. The waitress was RUDE to us, like we were wasting her time or something. THen we look at the menu and prices...little high, but maybe the quality's worth it...NOPE. Small cheese fries in a plastic basket with no silverware...like $6 and took 25 minutes!! I couldn't wait to just get out of there! We actually went up to the girl at the front & got the check and took off. NEVER go to this place, unless you're one of their South Philly Paisano's

    Really....... - 01/19/09
Why is that Bob? Is the bad food and high prices only good for the South Philly Paisano's? Where the hell did you think you where going, Morton's. Le Bec Finn? Really get over yourself.

They're not called cheese fries idiot. They are Crab Fries and you were too busy worrying about how the waitress treated you to notice how fantastic they are.
