Wow, not sure what happened to this place. Used to be top notch for burgers and fries. Just had lunch there today and it was AWFUL. I guess they think the scantily clad women will keep bringing the customers back while the food sucks. I had the shrimp basket and paid a dollar extra for onion rings. What I got was large shrimp fried with a super thick batter that made the shrimp look like they were stuffed. The batter was so thick it was only partially cooked through. There was at least 50% more batter than shrimp. Same thing for the so called onion rings. It was three super large onion rings covered in the same super thick undercooked batter. Again, there was 50% more batter than onion ring. This supersized concept just did not work at all. I pulled all of the batter off the shrimp and onion rings and the basket was overflowing with undercooked batter. I wish I could post a picture of it. It was ridiculous! My girlfriend had their famous hamburger and fries. The French fries were some cheap Sysco brand that was also not cooked all the way through. The hamburgers used to be so good. Now they are a preformed piece of meat that is loaded with some type of filler. Not the 100% juicy real hamburgers like they used to serve. Also, they used to have outstanding hamburger buns. Now it is some plain bun like you wold buy at HEB. I have not ate here in about 9 months so I don't know if they have changed owners or just cutting costs due to the economy. I ate here right after Hurricane IKE last year as they were the only place open with their own generators and while the menu that day was limited the food was outstanding. Now all they have are not too cute girls prancing around in underwear selling tickets for some drawing. I really missed the old Texan's Sport's bar and will definitely not be coming back again until I hear things have improved.
Overall a pretty good place. Great for sports fans. Would be an even better place to go for dinner but the food is mediocre at best. Tried several different items on the menu, not impressed. The crawfish are good when in season!
WOW for the Texans: This place is GREAT! One of La Porte/Pasadena's newest places, it has quickly become a hot spot and already expanding their parking. This place caters to everyone from biker to preppy in sort of a 50's diner style on the inside. BEAUTIFUL large fish tank can be seen from both front deck and inside. Lots of TVs for sports fans, pool tables and video games. LIVE bands like the VOLUMIZERS really kick this place in gear! Bikers welcome with prime bike parking. Food is casual ranging from seafood (shrimp, crawfish boil) to burgers .. all good at reasonable prices. Go on and check them out, you won't be disapointed.
