This historic Charlottesville landmark, built in 1931, was originally one of the last grand \"movie palaces\" during the golden age of cinema. The building features stately Georgian facade, an elegant lobby, magnificent chandeliers, 18th century style Colonial scenes painted on silk panels, and an ornate auditorium. A wide variety of live art performances can be seen here.
Outstanding classic venue!: Beutifully restored theater with a wide array of entertainers each season. Has had top acts like Tony Bennet to country groups to theater acts to comedy. Have seen David Sanborn, Bo Diddley, Hall and Oates, Glenn Miller Band, The Drifters and The Oak Ridge Boys. Get your tickets early!!! Shows can sell out within days of announcement. Recommend becoming a Paramount member to get priority selection!
Master Renovation: My wife and I were fortunate to attend a benefit for the University of Virginia Cancer Center held recently at the recently renovated Paramount Theatre. It is an absolutely gorgeous venue with perfect acoustics resulting in a wonderful evening of entertainment for a great cause. From the beautiful, ornate ceilings to the wall fabric to the plush carpeting, this theatre is a true treasure, not just for the people of Charlottesville, but for the entire central Virgnia area. Kudos to the contributors who made this renovation possible and to the craftsman who transformed the Paramount into a state of the art facility.
