We went to Cowles Ford, Malloy Lincoln-Mercury, Fairfax Honda, and Hendrick Honda. None of the dealers directly said they were participating in the "Cash for Clunkers" program. But, when told that we could not do this unless we got the CfC money they said let me sell you a car, not we're not participating in that program. They also said that they've been very busy with the CfC (which in a couple of dealerships looked to be true, the busy part that is). Sheehy Ashland has been answering their phone as the "Cash for Clunkers center". The official CARS.gov government website states in the FAQ "The law requires dealers to be registered to participate in the program." None of the five dealerships we talked to are on the list of registered dealerships. It looks to me like there are more dealerships in Virginia not on the list than there are on the list. We went to "Battlefield Ford" in Manassas which is on the list of registered dealerships as "Eustace-Merchant Ford" (their alternate name using the owners surname), and found their service to be very good.
Prior purchasing my 2009 Ford Escape, I visited several dealerships in the Woodbridge, VA area (Lustine Toyota, Hendrick Honda, Malloy Hyundai/Mazda, Nissan, etc.). I can honestly say that this is the only dealership where people knew their cars, were helpful and friendly, and did not trash other dealerships in order to sell their cars. I received numerous calls and e-mails from the other dealerships (every single day) while Cowles Parkway put no pressure on me to buy their car. The salesperson (Edgar Nazario) was great and offered me a fair deal. So far, I love my 2009 Ford Escape SUV. I recommend Cowles Parkway Ford. Good experience!
Relatively happy with service. The only turnoff was the persistent phone calls I received between my first visit and the purchase date. They were so bad, in fact, I requested another salesperson (Chester) to close the deal.
