Our area is experiencing hard economic times with all the job loses and such, but this is one of those shops you expect to find around no matter what. So we were surprised to find the business phone interrupted and then tried the other and it too was interrupted.
Not believing it went out of business, I decided to get in the car and go see form myself...sure enough it is still open, doing all they have always been doing and still sewing the great stuff we have come to depend on.
Turns out the expanded phone book campaign is not working for them and the costs of it were not bringing in enough revenue to pay for itself. Thus the phone interruptions. Additionally they lost the use of their Card processing service due to increasing costs. So without business phone or credit/debit card processing they are continuing to serve the community in a wonderful way. Same hours, same great customer service, same fantastic sewing and fabrication services. Still supporting the Veterans and the families of our active and National Guard members deployed, and the Proprietors (Randall & Joyce Jacobsen) even have a Son in Iraq right now.
This is a shop well worthy of our business in all the areas they offer to our community. Very Competitive, Very nice people doing good work for all of us.
I have to agree for the most part with what I read elsewhere on this shop. It is very stuffed to the gills with many products from holsters to EMT trousers.
Between the three Quonset Huts, they seem to cover all the bases. It could be a bit more conveniently located for exposure; but for the most part they do what they can with what they have.
I know we have been coming here for some time now and I am happy to be able to recommend them to family, friends, and associates.
I had occasion today 06/26/2008 to go back to this shop and as for some help with a purchase, I had made the week before.
I had purchased several pairs of BDU Trousers, and one of them had a seam problem; the guy changed the thread on his sewing machine and quickly and professionally reinforced the leg seam that looked like it would break out; he double stitched it.
Then I asked if he could do anything with a belt I bought from him, as I concluded after wearing it a week that it was too long.
He changed thread on the machine again to match the belt and worked with me on where I wanted it cut and finished.
I was satisfied with the sewing, the service, and the timing (On the spot) and when I asked how much I owed?
He said NO Charge! Its part of our Value Added Service for our clients that make their selection in/from our shop. We stand behind what we promote.
I don't have a lot to spend, but this place has Earned my loyalty.
Fall 2007
I worked a lot of years on the Rail Road and have traveled all across this county and used a lot of Military items in my life, but I have never seen a little hut like these crammed so full of stuff I like to use.
I am a big time Mail Order Catalog user, and was shocked to find that the local shop could indeed meet or beat the prices I was about to spend on an order from one of my favorite sources.
I have known the owner for many years on and off and never really knew what the shop was really capable of. I always assumed it was too small in a community too far away from what was happening to bother with; was I wrong. And now I know. It defiantly is not a place you shop at, but ask and they find it somewhere in there.
Spring 2008
I just tried to contact them by phone, and their business line was interrupted, so I had to use their home phone line to get in touch with them. Things are pretty tight around Munice, and the choices are more then just where will we eat out at tonight. Some the shops like this one is struggling for their very survival or existence and I am happy to be able to go the extra distance to keep one like this one around and operating in our area.
I like my catalogs and all but sometimes I can't always find what I want in them or the description doesn't do justice to the quality and I want to see up front what I am spending money on and that is where the Local shops come in. This is one that has most everything I need when I need it; and what isn't there already they can order for me and I know the fella knows his business and the quality of the suppliers he is dealing with.
That is all the assurance for me to act on.
If the at business number is out; try 765-747-1934 it still rings through to the shop also.
