Very small compared to many surplus operations, but they seem to be able to have everything I want each time we go there looking for the many different types of Military surplus we use to go camping and wear.
They have a nice selection of boots and kids and ladies clothing to choose from, and good sizes too as I have a cousin who is at least a 3X and he found what he wanted and that is rare.
They have a "match Price" policy that insures we don't pay more then we would from any other source and even though their phone is interrupted from time to time they are still there after all these years.
I have learned that if the phone is disconnected I can still trust they are there. Things are so bad something has to give and I know they let it go from time to time to keep services higher in other areas.
They have recently increased the parking area, added a double wide drive way and are inproving the Huts they operate from. Randall has told me oftern that everything competes with everything else and that means he sets His priorities on stock, service, improvements at this time of the year.
As you can see from other reviews that he may be a bit unconventional but is always doing the best by the community.
I had Mr. Jacobsen make me custom knife sheath for a custom knife, which works great and cost very little. I then had him make a Sai case, something you can't just find or have made, but sure enough for $20, I got one made just for my Sai, and fit to my hand. If you are in the military or police, you would be foolish not to take advantage of these services available locally to create of modify your tactical gear. I plan to have him make few more sheaths and a holster in the future. I never thought I could afford to commission custom gear. He is very fair and has good craftsmanship.
I could hardly believe my ears when I heard the recording hat this shops business phone had been disconnected and then the home phone too. I mean this is like the ultimate survival shop in our area; and if they are having this kind of economic difficulty...we have to ask ourselves just how bad has things gotten? Pretty bad...but not to despair. I got into my truck and went on over and found that sure enough they were still there and open as usual.
Doing what they have always done, with excellence, and great integrity in our community still. Turns out their decision to try the phone book advertising in every community around a sixty (60) mile radius of Muncie was/is a very bad decision and is NOT working as intended. It is the very lack of response for this expense that is causing the lack of funds to pay the phone book portion of their Bill.
Rest assured that they have in fact lost the business phone, and cards processing and are forced to do a Cash & Carry business at this point in time, but they are still there and doing what they do best, with excellence and are still well stocked, and Sewing as always.
This is one tough old Disabled Army Vietnam Veteran that just won't lay down and die regardless of how bad the economic times get. So if you go? You will find them open... Just accepting cash & carry only. these days.
