Fine dining and bar and all that comes with that: The Red never fails to please, whether your tastes are for some delicious snacks, excellent full meals, great wine, or exotic beer. The menu is fairly constant, but nicely varied, with some occasional specials to mix things up. Snack foods like small pizzas and appetizer plates are good, but best are the full plates -- the grilled duck is marvelous. Everything has a lovely twist to its taste, but without undermining the overall quality.

You may have to wait a while, if the bar is at all busy. You're best off with one or two close friends, instead a massive group, all hungry for an effing mojito. The staff is, for the most part, friendly and willing to serve you well, but you'd be good not to blame them for not giving you the attention you so desire, when they're swamped with hordes of hipsters and college kids.

If you're looking for a quiet evening, during the week is a better time than the weekend. Things seriously pick up at around 9.

Plush surroundings in the bar and lounge (I admit, I lurk around there mostly, instead of sitting at a table), and music to relax and swing your shoe to.

AWFUL SERVICE: I have been to Red twice before and had GREAT service. We got a waitress last evening (brown curly hair , glittery eyeshadow) who was soooooo awful. When I asked for bread, she said "Ill have to look in the back for some" and when she brought it to us she said "this is all I could find, it may be stale". HELLO!!!!! This is a restaurant right??? I couldnt belive this. The dinner was good but the Hot chocolate cake dessert which is made to order (Ive had it before and it is FABULOUS!) took 30 minutes to arrive and it was dry, hard and cold on the bottom. The waitress swore it was made to order...I dont think so.
Anyways, Id still go there. I just think this was a bad night and the waitress has no clue whatsoever!!!!!!

Great ambiance, poor service: I went to the Red once for dinner. We had a large party, so we knew that the wait would be fairly long. However, the service was below expectation. Waiters were slow in bringing menus, and eventually it took about 2 hours before we got the food. Last night I went for drinks with a small party, and none of the waiters would acknowledge us. They ignored our attempts to catch their attention and order drinks. We ended up going to the bar directly, and even so it took more than 10 minutes to get somoene to acknowledge us. There were three bartenders, none of them seems to be trained to make eye contact or acknowledge the customer in any way. In such an upscale place, that is simply not acceptable. The ambiance and the drinks and food (once you get it) is really good, but I just don't want to deal with that level of service. Friday night can get really busy so I am not expecting to be served right away, but I would like acknowledgement. My suggestion would be to train their waiters to be more attentive, and have some extra staff on weekends.
