I don't know people - I felt like I was in the movie AMERICAN PSYCHO as opposed to CAFE AMERICANO! we did happy hour on the patio which is very fabulous. It wasn't super crowded so I can't comment on the singles' scene. But I CAN comment on the AWFUL service!! The outside bartender told me he would not open the Absolute Vodka- I had to go inside. (then why is it at your bar????) All the staff acted like I was putting them out when I asked for a cocktail - I'm a nice customer. I've done their job and I know what it's like!! I just can't believe the attitude of everyone who worked there - I MIGHT check it out again for the eye candy that is mentioned in these other posts but I THINK Americano needs to CHECK THEMSELVES instead!!!
Tasty food, fabulous and fashionable crowd, trendy: Solid +++ 3 BIG stars.
Glitz, designer jeans, fabulous people - that is the bar scene. It is enjoyable and frantic on some evenings, but it always feels very glamorous! The place oozes of modern elegance, including the lobby of Hotel Vitale as you come in, unless you come in from the patio, which includes great views of the Bay Bridge).
In the restaurant the atmosphere is quieter, the service more relaxed. The food is very fresh, very tasty and also well presented. Although I've been coming to Americano many times, I keep coming back because it all feels right, and you leave satisfied.
Be cautious which evening you show up. It can be a mad house and loud as on Friday nights, but you will also experience much more eye candy... :)
Sit back, have a cocktail, watch the crowd, enjoy the food
The food is delicious: Although their bar is famous for attracting all the suits and designer purse toting young professionals of San Francisco I love their food.
