His wife Susan is very good PR person and she'll convince you of anything. Remodeled my oversized kitchen w/ Ikea cabinets. I'm fairly happy w/ the way it looks but would think twice about using R.Jalo again. 1) The $275 design fee is worth it. You don't have to hassle w/ the Ikea software and you end-up w/ a complete shopping list. However, it ain't perfect and Neil (the designer) overlooked a couple of things that turned out to be a real pain to fix after the fact. I would have Ikea sales guy double check everything. 2) The guy knows Ikea; they're fast at assembling...may be to fast...could slow down a bit to avoid little mistakes. 3)Robert doesn't do much himself....let's the other guys do all the work. Ends up taking much more time than planned. Had he helped out, they would have finished on time. Spend a lot of time on the phone and in the bathroom.... 4)Yes, they do the work; but he tried to cut corners - you have to be on his back at all times so he does exactly what you want; not too much common sense when it comes to finishing touches. That's the difference between great install and average! 5)Stay away from having him install appliances; he's sloppy and way over priced. 7)His prices are way above Ikea's fees (specially when they run their 20% sale) Wouldn't recommend to someone not willing to get involved and get their hands dirty. Otherwise, it is what it is...would try w/ Ikea service if I had to do it again (howver, no guarantee it would be better either). I'm not trashing the guy by all means. The job got done at an 85% satisfaction rate. My kitchen was fairly large; may be for smaller scale project it would have worked better. In the end, I still saved a bundle over Home Depot/Lowes or other Designer kitchens. It looks good, but didn't quite enjoy the "experience"; there were flaws that could have been prevented - again, it may also have happened somewhere else.
