We go here all the time for out Thai food. Excellent!
I had been looking for a local Thai restaurant for a while and have recently been in the mood for a squid salad. Green Papaya fit the bill, and with generally positive reviews, I decided to give it a try.
This is a clean, well-lighted place, in the very best sense of the phrase. The service was polite and efficient and the food was fresh and hot.
Times being what they are, I only ordered spring rolls, the squid salad and a soda (with a refill - thank goodness!), but there was more than enough food, so I left feeling just full enough, which is nice!
The spring rolls were almost perfect - crisp, savory and just tart enough.
The squid salad was done well - I generally like it on the spicy side, and like eating sushi, I don't feel that I've fully lived the experience if my sinuses don't clear! In this case, the salad didn't disappoint. The squid was warm and tender, but the dressing was spicy to the point of slightly overpowering the squid. It's a delicate balance, but overall I was happy with the dish.
The decor makes reminds me of a subdued Hong Kong Cafe eatery, and although there is a television on the wall, the volume isn't turned up to the point where a person can't hear themselves think.
Overall, between the location, food, service and economics, this was an enjoyable experience and will definitely return in the future.
This is a great restaurant. It is one of our favorites. The peanut dipping sauce that comes with the appetizer beef/chicken satay skewers is amazing. Portions are substantially larger when you eat in their restaurant than when you order their take-out.
