| About: | Sterling Supplemental Learning Centers was formed under the direction of three university professors, each with over 20 years of academic experience, based on their concerns for students and the quality of learning. SSLC takes a unique and innovative approach to learning that helps students connect with the subject matter that they need to master to be successful in the classroom and in life. Through personalized and focused teaching processes, we do our utmost to prepare students with the basic skills, thinking skills, and personal qualities for academics and life. Our K-12 programs are developed around testing and identifying the student�s needs. Each person is assessed for their needs and an individual plan is developed. The SSLC methodology brings information technology into the mix with the student�s text, selected supplemental materials, and experiences. The college-level tutoring program at SSLC is designed to aid students who are struggling with quantitative courses. We focus on students in the undergraduate and graduate programs including: College Math., Business Math., Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Quantitative Analysis, Accounting, Finance, and Economics. As needed, other tutoring services are also available. For all ages, SSLC has sessions to help individuals develop computer skills and Internet literacy. SSLC software training programs are designed to assist different groups of students: 1) Individuals who are already working in an office environment but need to improve their skills to help to increase office productivity or improve their job potential; 2) Students who need to learn computer software; and 3) People who want to become computer literate, use their email, and enjoy information technology without undue apprehension. SSLC tutoring for English as a Second Language (ESL) is offered in conjunction with all of our offerings. By utilizing low learner-to-instructor ratios, SSLC can provide the individual attention that supplemental learners need to better master English. Our program uses validated materials to guide each learner to better conversational grammar, improved vocabulary, and reading and writing skills. The test preparation programs at Sterling utilize smaller learner to educator ratios to give the individual attention needed for improved scores. Sterling�s college entrance test preparation (i.e., PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc.) programs provide more individual attention to each learner. Our highly qualified instructors and testing exercises prepare our learners for their specific examinations. To provide language skills for the global community, SSLC provides language instruction in French, Spanish, Farsi, and Arabic. Additional languages can be made available upon request. |

Excellent learning enviroment: My child's counselor from school recommended that my child should receive extra tutoring out of school. Through my own research, I reviewed many learning centers, and found many that were only interested in doing business. Their top priority was not for my child to excel in academics. I found Sterling Supplemental Learning Center in the Rockville area, and decided to investigate more. The founders of the center are local university professors, and their main priority is education. They truly know what the importance of education is, and their first and top goal was to help my child, unlike the other centers that were formost interested in my money. I am gladly able to announce that after a short term session with the Sterling Center's tutors; my child had improved in mathematics greatly. The grades my child received on her recent quizzes are astonishingly better. I recommend this center to anyone who wants to help their kids.
