Tomasso is an extremely ordinary restaurant masquerading as a four-star bistro. The prices are high, and the wait staff is only moderately attentive. This weekend, I ordered a $32.00 sirloin that was no better than a Denny's breakfast steak. The side dishes seemed to come out of a can.
This may be a case of what was once a good restaurant that has now cut corners, and is resting on its laurels. In any event, Tomasso was half empty at 7pm last Friday night, and I understand why. If you want to save $300.00 and get a better meal, try the Olive Garden.
Elegant, tasteful, outstanding quality in service and food. Pricey, but worth the splurge on a night out. Chef Justin is a hidden gem in suburbia, young, creative and can COOK. Authentic Italian cuisine. Try the gnocci... any seasonal type. Special events are a culinary treat.
Amazingly good! Fresh ingredients, excellent service, fab wine list. When it gets crowded and there's a wait, we like to eat at the bar. You can eat a mix of small plates (almost like tappas) or you can go for a full blown, 3 course meal. Even their pizza is wonderful. But be warned--this is real Italian food, NOT the Americanized version you get at Vinny Testa's, and other American-Italian chains. You will NOT see Fettucine Alfredo on the menu (then again, you don't get it in Italy either--it's an American dish).
