   I was very disappointed with Dr. Gutknecht. My regular doctor is Dr. Caffrey, and unfortunately, he was on vacation for both of my deliveries. He is an excellent Dr, as is Dr. Lembeger who delivered my first child. As I am recently pregnant, I am changing OB's. Dr Gutknecht was called several times to deliver my second child. He repeatedly told the nurses, that I "would be a while", while I was progressing very quickly. Needless to say, my baby was born 20 minutes before Dr. Gutknecht graced us with his presence. Mind you, my baby was 5 weeks premature, and what they don't tell you, is that if there is no doctor, you are on your own delivering. THE NURSES CAN NOT HELP YOU DUE TO LIABILITY. He stitched me up, and headed out the door, never to be heard from again. It's a good thing too. If he had showed up during my recovery the second day, I would have had him tossed out. While the other doctors in this practice are excellent, I simply can not take the risk of have this ego-centric narcicist be the one responsible for delivering my child. I would avoid this doctor completely.

   The women in my family have been going to the Independence Women's Clinic for years. Dr. Gutknecht has to be absolutely the BEST! My daughter had to have surgery about 5 yrs ago for something we had no clue about. He and his nurses (Nancy and Gail) were very patient and understanding with my daughter. They made sure the doors of communication were OPEN, and she had everything she needed. VERY professional, yet personal... I recommend Dr. Gutknecht totally!! I work with a lot of women, and I know many that go to him. If you are having ANY female problems or are just in need of an OB/GYN.. This is the Doctor for you. I trust this Doctor totally..
