We just returned from 1924, and had a very pleasant dinner. The pan fried soft shell crab was delicious. The flat iron steak with gorgonzola and spinach puree was cooked exactly to my order. The shortbread cookies with sea salt which accompanied the butterscotch pudding were a little odd, but well done. I'm not sure who the people were who "needed to stop by Taco Bell" two hours later, but they must not have had the 3 course fixed price menu with wine pairing. We left pleasantly full with only a cup of coffee added to the basic menu. We would go back.
I must agree with other review's, on portion size we were a party of 10 after the last course was served 4 of the men were still hungry and sorry to say 4 of us hit taco bell two hours later. Who want's to eat some where pay $500 and then need to hit fast food 2 hours later. Other wise great!!! but need way bigger portions and this is comeing from some one who can never order soup or salad or i cant finish my meals,or i only order soup and salad.
1924s' restaurant is missing just one thing...Flavor. I don't think the other members that reviewed this place, ate at the same place I did. First of all, they spend so much time on presentation, that they forgot to add any taste. The filet mignon was 1/4 inch thick and over done. The sauce that accompanied it was heinz 57. The portions are super small, and the price was super large. You can eat at any top notch restaurant in KC, for the prices they charge, and at least leave full. I feel as if I was just mugged.
