I got an e-mail from The LASIK Vision Institute™ advertising the laser eye surgery for as low as $299! So, I was like, wow! If I can do it for that price, or even up to 600 per eye, I will! My brother had it done recently and he paid $2,000 per eye! So I read up on this place and decided to get the Free evaluation. They said all they would do on this appointment is look at my prescription and tell me approximately how much it would cost. The closest place I could go to was in Springfield, Mo., 110 miles from where I live. Well, let me tell you, it was a waste of time and money! The minimum for me was $899! And that was with NO warranty! And my prescription isn't even that strong. It's like -2.25. Then it was $999 for a one year warranty. For lifetime it was $1,349. And this was with the 'outdated', old machine that doesn't do as good as their new one. For the new one (CustomVue™, Visx Star S4 Laser), for the lifetime warranty, it would cost $1,999! Plus, I would first have to have an eye exam from their eye Dr., which would cost $150 per eye! I was like, forget it. I was not too happy with them for their 'false' advertising! So, I guess I'll just have to put up with contacts and glasses a while longer. Until I have enough money saved up, or find a place that's cheaper! When I talked to the on the phone before I went, I asked how they can do it so cheap, because I was very leary of them, they said "it's because they own all their own machines and facilities." Ha! Real cheap! I read that there was only one person in all of the 100 thousand + surgeries they've done that got it done for $299! Still, I hoped I could get it for even double that! No such luck.
