I went there today after going to the Kebab House in the woodlands a few days ago. I told her of my disgusting experience and she was like "Why?" I told her I regret it now! I don't know what I will do when I am craving Greek when we no longer live in Huntsville! I ALWAYS get her gyros but have eaten the kids chicken arrozo and chicken cilantro off my kids plates. I am also not a big fan of rice but hers tops any rice ever. I don't know what she does with it but it is the best! I have had her banana pudding before and it is excellent. I really love going there because she makes it seem like your not eating at a restaurant but at her home.
I recently visited this restaurant in its non-descript location near downtown Huntsville, TX. Although many of the items had been dropped from the menu, what I ended up ordering, was excellent. I had the Cuban Pork with Rice and Black Beans. It tasted like something my Dominican grandmother would make. And just like grandma's house, I cleaned my plate.
The owner, Myriam, offered me her famous banana pudding and I thought, "I'm not a big banana pudding person". I ordered it anyways and it was amazing. Fresh diced bananas cover the bottom of the bowl and fresh homemade pudding is put over it with a cinnamon/sugar-type crumble thrown on top and finished with whipped cream and of course, garnished with Vanilla Wafers.
I found the service to be very personable, aothough it maybe too personable for some people's tastes, but I found it refreshing since I travel often and love meeting new people. I was really disappointed when I wasn't able to make it back there for lunch the next day. I will definitely return there on my next trip.
