| About: | Located in back of the Old Fitzgerald Hotel, with an alley entrance and descending staircase, this cozy little wine bar Hidden Vine is fast becoming a favorite kept secret among Bay Area wine lovers, connoisseurs and amateurs alike. The Hidden Vine, though can't stay secret for long, especially after a number of glowing reviews and a place on the SF Bay Guardian's "Best of the Bay 2007" list. Visitors love the comfortable atmosphere with its deep cushy couches, richly-colored decor, and soft candle light. They are equally taken with the unimposing warmth of the two owners, who share their love and knowledge of fine wines with quiet enthusiasm. Each month, the Hidden Vine features wines from different regions, always keeping some excellent California varieties in stock. Fine cheeses, charcuterie, and chocolates are served as well. |

Great wine, great service, great place: I highly recommend the Hiden Vine. They serve maybe 30 wines by the glass and approximately 100 bottles. They have a concentration of California wines, but also have enough from around the world as well.
The owners and staff are helpful and pleasant. They offer tastings, other events and even provide a limited amount of food. My friends and I love to go there. The Hidden Vine is owned and operated by David and Angela Cahill.
Laid back wine bar...a must see!: Great selection of wine fights with a new region every month. It is a small and cozy place where the owners, David and Angela, make you feel right at home. You can't beat the free cheese board from 6 to 8 every Thursday. Sit back in the large couches and chairs and sip away.
The Perfect On-The-Way-Home Glass of Wine: A delightful little nook with superb wines by the glass and just the right munchies to go along with it. Long-time friend/colleague Marilynn and I needed to discuss "business" but also wanted to relax and put our feet up at the end of a long day at the office. One of the featured red wine tasting flights and a few select cheeses in this quiet little neighborhood place was absolutely perfect. It's quiet so you can talk, small and cozy enough to have the feel of your den or living room, and the personal service and recommendations from the owners really added to the warm and friendly feeling. We especially loved the gourmet cheese list, with selections beautifully presented with baguette, fruit, and Alison McQuade's unbeatable chutneys. I don't think I would order the Greek red flight again, but I love trying new wines of the world and was glad to have the opportunity to try it once. Overall... two thumbs WAY up!
