Being a long time resident of Bed-Stuy I decided to check out Solomon's Porch one evening for take out. When I got home and opened the food which took nearly 45 minutes to make I was utterly disappointed. The calamari I ordered was fried so hard that it was barely edible. The fried chicken was also fried hard and it was extremely dry, the collard greens were equivalent to eating dry discolored leaves. I was so disappointed that I contacted the restaurant to voice my issues. I was told to bring the food back for a full refund ($20) however I opted for a complimentary brunch as a way to give the restaurant a 2nd chance of impressing me. I went back 2 days later as agreed upon and much to my surprise no one at the restaurant knew of my issue or arrangement with one of the managers, although I provided my name, and the date I would return. The manager present at the time called the other to check my story. I was then told that my previous bill only totaled $9 (although I was previously offered a full refund of $20). I was amazed at how the information was communicated between staff. Everything seemed perfectly fine when speaking to the first manager on the phone. In addition, the manager on site spoke so low that he was almost inaudible (I think he didn't want other customers to know about my food and service complaint). The service I received was unprofessional and I refuse to ever step foot in that establishment. I informed the manager that I was not pleased with their food, service, professionalism and that I would take my business elsewhere. Lastly, I would not recommend Solomon's Porch to anyone who inquires about a good place to eat in the neighborhood. Good luck to all of you who decide to venture inside. On a positive note, there is a nice decor and good music.

The Salmon Croquettes were superb! The strawberry pancakes were so fluffy and not messy. They actually have sausage patties not just links. The omelettes are great! It was a great surprise to find a local neighborhood cafe that served great breakfast for me and the kids on the weekends. And the crowd was very diverse and very brunch-like: coffee, lattes, sunday times, church goers, couples, etc. really cool! This place beats me getting up and trying to make all this stuff!

PROS: Brunch is overall great, but dinner is not bad either!
CONS: Brunch is only available on weekends!

Wifi + Beautiful Black Artsy Folk: Doesn't that say it all? Food is not the draw here. It is good but mainly this is a neighborhood hang out spot to chill, sip a beverage, and work on your laptop surrounded by beautiful black people!
