Interesting. Nice floor. We go infrequently. This area has limited dance resources. No studio can be all things to all dancers. We are accustomed to a larger dance environment, with more studios and instructors, where clients regularly take lessons and attend dances across multiple locations. Sampling different dance buffets over the years helped us to better understand the greater dance world, what we want, who can provide it, and what fees are fair. (The state were we lived last has laws regulating dance studio sales practices.) Fortunately, our jobs and schedules support our ability to spend more dance time in Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Fayetteville, and Raleigh, as well as other towns in NC, SC, and GA. An excellent social dance studio staffed by competent personnel who continue their training, (i.e. such as periodic trips to Argentina to study Tango, to Puerto Rico to study Salsa and Mambo, Middle Eastern dance in Turkey, etc). The Studio also is at times called on to supply choreographic design and dancing extras for Movie and TV network productions at the Wilmington Screen Gems Studios. However, key word in the name of the studio is Social. Those whose goal is to be excellent social dancers far outnumber the demand for exhibition (competition) dancing, and contrary to the atmosphere in a many studios, the art of social dance is not looked upon by some with veiled prejudice here. The studio has 3,000 square feet of floating dance floor and has more practice room and supervised practice parties than other local studios. The Studio also makes instructor training available for a small number of dancers/students who show promise and wish to eventually teach, a very common practice among more progressive studios.
