OK if you want to learn street and club dances to do at the bars. Ballroom instruction is poor, especially for men. Is an independent studio, but teaches Arthur Murray steps from what the owner gleens from an instrtuctor that comes up from SC on the weekends. (If you dance another style, such as Astaire, ISTD, DVIDA, or International, you will be influenced to believe what you know is deficient.) NONE of the instructors are professionally certified, yet a studio hour is priced high, even for the rate certified instructors in NC receive. There is a constant sales pitch for the latest workshops, which focus on moves and not sound technique. Lots of efforts to milk the customer - poor value for money spent. Focus is on entertainment (not teaching) and making the student feel dependent and to keep spending. As one student said, you can see poor habits and technique taught, focusing on almalgamations (vs. understanding component steps and the fundamental understanding of technique and floorcraft), when compared with true, certified professionals. Though independent, using the A. Murray pricing model. Student will be continually 'guilted' to spend. (Owner feels a high price makes consumer value what is offered.) No one enters and leaves a session without getting a hard sales pitch.
