We visited American Tavern with friends of ours who think this may have been an off night for this venue. Our waitress was newly trained (one week) and was a "low talker". I don't hold that against her. :) She did not keep our drinks topped and we had to constantly waive her down for service. Although I was the only person at our table who did not order a main meal (I just ordered a cup of soup and half of a grilled cheese sandwich), I had to wait an additional 10 minutes after everyone else was served to get my food. Although there were several items on the desert menu, only one was actual available to serve. Also, it was freezing in the restaurant. It's a shame too because it was nicely decorated and has real potential to be a cool place. The hostess was nice and we were seated quickly. Probably won't return though.
