Christina Wan's Mandarin House

Very Nice Place: I am a little surprised by the reviews of this place. To me, the place is beautiful and the food is superb. Plus, this is one of the few Chinese restaurants that has a good wine list. On my last visit in July 2007,mMy fiancee had a shrimp dish and I had a pork dish that I asked to have spicy - and it was. Previously, I have had a number of other dishes and I believe this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area.

Bad Atmosphere, Bad Attitude, Average Food: During a vacation from New York, we drove for an hour from Palm Beach Shore to this restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. The seating was horrible. Nobody wanted to sit in the large center area because it was so dark. Only few seatings on the side were slightly brighter but soon we found out the space between table and seat was so tight that we couldn't barely move or breath. We required a table switch. The old waiter/or manager wasn't too happy about it. We waited 10 minutes for the menu and finally got our food ordered and later served. At the end we paid the bill and asked the old waiter to pack our food. He was very unhappy. When he returned to hand me the bagged food, he gave me a terrible look of his face. I said 'thank you', he turned away. I will not recommend anyone of my friends to go to this place because nobody will enjoy their meal with the attitude given by any of the restaurant staff. Later we saw a photo of the restaurant's owner -- Mr.&Mrs Wan, the old waiter looked just exectly like Mr. Wan.

Did you go for food? A review of a restaurant without a single word about the food. Useless.

Food low mediocre, bad atmosphere: I've eaten here a few times when I heard that Christina opened up this location. The food was low to mediocre, the seating room is horrendous. Very dark with dark walls. The room is semi round with a feeling of school cafeteria. I've lived in China and Japan and this is not good quality Chinese American food.
