We were in SLC for a Dave Ramsey Live Event and noticed the Ruby Tuesday near the E Center where the event was being held. We have eaten at Ruby Tuesday when we have traveled to the east coast and have always been more than pleased at the service and food. Our visit to this Ruby Tuesday was nothing close to satisfying.
As we were being escorted to a table clear at the back of the establishment I noticed an open booth in the bar area where we could conveniently watch the Lakers/Jazz game which was on. I asked the host if we could sit there and he told us no. I told him that I wanted to watch the game and he pointed to a small TV at the far end of the room he seated us in and told us that we could watch it there. This TV MIGHT have been a 19" but looked smaller and there was no way to see the screen or anything on it. I decided that we would just eat quickly and get back to our hotel so we could watch the game there so didn't say anything more.
Our server quickly took our order and served us in a timely manner. The salad bar was excellent as we have come to expect at Ruby Tuesday but somewhat less abundant than we remembered. Our meal was served hot and properly prepared and the service was adequate. At the end of the meal we asked for 6 cookies to take with us and we were told they only had 5 and that 5 would cost us more than 6 so he couldn't give us any. I finally suggested that he charge us for 6 and only give us the 5 he had and he did so. While waiting for the cookies he then dropped a bowl of what appeared to be bean soup that he was clearing from the table next to ours and spashed the contents on my clothes, face, and arm. I had beans stuck to the side of my face, in my ear, in my hair and all over my clothes. I was given an apology and a handful of alcohol wipes to clean up the mess with. No manager was ever called to the table, no offer to comp our meal, no nothing. In fact, he then presented me with the bill including the charge for 6 cookies and a box containing their last 5 cookies!
I called the manager the next day and let her know what had happened and again no offer to refund our meal or make it up to us. Sorry to say that despite our high opinion of Ruby Tuesday as a company, this establishment will not see our business again when we travel to SLC in the future.
