I am careful to rate and write a review that looks poorly on a resturant but this one was deserving and had expectations to live up to. We had spent over $150 on 2 other meals at La Barraca and Billy's Stone Crab and we did not mind paying those bills because we had a great experience. We spent $120 here and felt (got) ripped off.
First off a good thing. Our server, Crystal, knew the menu and caught up with us on a timely basis.
VALUE killed this place. For the prices they asked, we expected exceptional food. Here is the break down and comments:
2x$12 - Lychee-tini: Very good though about a $10 drink considering Lychee came from a can available at local oriental grocery stores for $3
1x$12 - Crab Rangoon: yea, $12. 9 pieces, served borderline warm/less warm and not much substance. We were told they used Alaskan King Crab...I know that taste and was very hit an miss. Good duck sauce. Our guess is worth about $7
1x$4 Miso Soup: pretty good...still $3 at best. They had $7 Edamame in small tin.
1x$6.50 Smoked Salmon sushi: Bingo...this was great and priced well
1x$13.00 Hamachi Jal Roll: Taste was good, but expected a more heat to the jalepeno, fish was great, vegatables crisp. Average
1x$24 Sesame Chicken: Absolute train wreck. Chicken was fried which is okay but was very chewy or tough. Sauce was good. Brown or white rice included or for an extra fee, 'special tatu fried rice' can be added...see next one
1x$10 Tatu Fried Rice: Our 'special' addition had capers, small amount of chicken, and a few shrimp. We could not figure out what type of oil was used to cook the rice. Both of us had a few bites and did not care for much more. For the additional cost, this just did not work.
1x$12 Mojito: Average but Miami has high standards for this drink. Bartenders should know how to knock one out of the park here but got a double base hit.
1x$8.50 Absolute and Tonic: hard to mess up and they did not...its was good.
$120; we got ripped off as mentioned...VALUE.
We had a birthday party there this past Saturday night. The service was HORRIBLE. I don't mean just bad- I mean pure freaking ridiculous HORRIBLE- I went looking for someone to find our drinks- 30 minutes in between seeing our waitress--who we didnt know who she was as they are instructed not to give their names. When the ordeal finally concluded, the waitress lost our credit card. She ran around for 30 minutes with a lighter clicking around looking under tables- it was so ridiculous just to witness. Eventually after 20 minutes- a manager shows up. And as to no surprise he is more clueless than she is. After we had all been looking for the card for 30 minutes he starts looking around on the ground for it himself under our table. We never did find it. What did they offer to do? NOTHING. Seriously---Do yourself a HUGE favor and avoid Tatu like the PLAGUE. The people and the service SUCK SUCK SUCK
The food is great but the service is HORRIBLE!!!! I planned a dinner for my friend's bachlorette party 2 months in advanced and when we got there they didin't have the space available and then on top of it were rude.

my service was not horrible...you even said yourself accidents happen. I feel really hurt. I was on top of my game and I got everyones drink as fast as they came from the bar. That is really mean. I didn't purposely lose the credit card.
you are rude and let me come to seasons 52 and treat you the same way...thats really not cool....she did a great job!!!
