Hi all! I am Tim Rugg's sister. I recently had a Vegal Nerve Stimulator implanted. I have foud recently that a lot of EMS services don't know very much about it. I had to call 911 for help and they weren't going to send help because they thought it was a weapon. So I am contacting all fire havdepts. in Vancouver so that all EMS can look up web sites so that there won't be any problems. Education is important. Cyberonics is the company that makes the implant. There is atelephone number that you can call if you have any further questions. 1-888-867-7846. The reason this is so important is ecause the implant's outer casing is Titanuim, and it has a Lithium Battey inside. So, I cannot have an MRI, it would melt in my chest.
