User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsdisgusting! I am Mexican and I was truly enraged with this place, what they sell is not Mexican at all, at best it would be TEX-MEX. Unless the Mexican owners and the Mexican cook forgot that we don´t put tomato sauce over tamales and we dont eat ground beef tacos. Really if you´re looking for something real walk a few blocks more and you will find a bakery "el gallito" with the real deal. Shame on the owners of Mezcal...

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Reading. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Don't go here if you are in a hurry as service is relaxed.

I'm only writing this because I want this restaurant to survive and thrive. I sort of want to keep it to myself so I can get seated. The menu is fabulous - not the usual quick Mexican fare found in the "short chain" restaurants in Berks County.
They make a delicious mole and I ALWAYS have the black bean soup. The one downside is that they have started to add more cheese to dishes that have cheese - but that's to please the Berks County palate. Just ask them to hold back.
This restaurant has a full bar. More choice of beer than wine, but the food is why you'll go again and again. Also, the decor is authentic and interesting.
Be careful of the last step - despite the sign I turned back to talk to my husband who was still coming down the steps, forgot that there was another step, and I fell into the restaurant face first.
