| About: | Athens Restaurant & Grill is located on James Island in the Athenian Village complex off Maybank Highway (which also houses Athens Cafe and Athens Pizza Express). Traditional Greek dishes are served in a breezy cafe setting. Try the chicken kabobs: marinated in olive oil, lemon, and Greek spices, the tender pieces are skewered with peppers, onions and tomatoes, and served up with rice and vegetables. Or go classic Greek and order the Moussaka or Pastitsio. For someplace more casual, head next door to Athens Pizza Express (open daily 11a-10p). They feature an abbreviated menu of Athens Restaurant & Grill, focusing on pizzas, Greek sandwiches and grinders. Finally, to curb that sweet tooth, pop into Athens Cafe for some cakes, pastries, ice cream, coffee, or smoothies (open daily 11a-10p). |

I actually ordered delivery from the new express restaurant in West Ashley, but they aren't listed here. I ordered a sandwich from the menu and when it was delivered, it was wrong. So I called the store and the young women informed me that I ordered wrong so that's why I didn't receive the right food. I then spoke with the manager who agreed with the cashier, and didn't get my money back or the correct sandwich. I will never order from there again!!!!
I have been going to Athens restaurant for as long as I can remember and have always loved it. Today I met my family there-1-3-09 for lunch--some from out of town--and went there at my suggestion. We were met at the door by the hostess who was very friendly and sat us immediately. Our waitress arrived and then the nightmare began. We had to get up and chase her down several times for tea or water. The meal was only O.K. but took almost 2 1/2 hours for the experience. No-one at the table would have given her a tip but since we had 7 in our party it was charged to our ticket automatically. The girl had no personality, was lazed and dazed and truely acted clueless in what was supposed to happen. Potatoes were supposed to come with my meal--she forgot--and when reminded she shrugged and still never brought them. I don't mean to be harsh and am not hard to please. My family are not ones to cause a scene in any way and didn't want to hurt the little girl's feelings but you need to know Bill and George. It could really hurt your business to keep incompetent people serving old time customers with new wave service.Thank You--
This place has a great comfortable setting and a quaint outside dining area. The service was impecable and the food was fantastic. There is Italaian options as well as Greek. I have eaten there a few times and will defineately return. They also have good kids options. All of the pasta dishes I have had were great and the Chicken Pita platter was really good. They also do delivery next door at the express and the pizzas were surprisingly delicous. I am a waitress of 15 years and have eaten out a ton so I think I'm a pretty good judge of food. Defineately 2 thumbs up.
