Eastwood location 8.30.8 - I am a white male age 47. I moved to B'ham from HSV 7 years ago. I started buzz cutting my own hair because every "whack-n-clip" chain left me feeling no love and a lousy hair cut for 15-20 bucks. I finally decided I wanted my hair back and started growing the first of the year. Again trying to maintain my longer hair I ended up searching for someone to give me an honest to goodness hair cut, you know scissors. After several hack jobs from various we-cut, "whack-n-clip" I was at a lose. It had been three months since my last "whack-n-clip" so my hair was getting longer and unruly. So this Saturday morning I set out on a mission. I started to jump on the Interstate and head to 280 or Hoover in my search. But, I was divinely moved to turn right instead and for some reason I pulled into the new shopping center and saw a new "head start"... I said to myself "self you know better" then I noticed "JTYRAN Salon" so I drove over and parked, pulled out the iphone and googled it...(they need a website btw)...I gave up and went on inside to investigate, the window did say Barbers and Stylist. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted promptly and professionally, after a consult with a Barber he went and took advisement from a stylist. That is when I realized I might be in an ethnic themed salon. Thoughts began to flash "do they know how to cut a white man's hair", "do they want to cut a white man's hair". Then I thought if they are willing and I am more than willing. The salon was super nice, clean, great decor, music...just a wonderful welcome relaxed feeling. In the waiting area I relaxed and read the news. Just as I was promised in 15 minutes a gentleman by the name THEO walked up and introduced himself. After listening to me intently about what I wanted in a hair cut, he explained how he was going to go about it. Honestly I could go on for hours about how great of a hair cut I received and how great the service was at JTYRAN in Eastwood. I can truly say that I received the best hair cut I have had in over 20 years and maybe just ever. So thank you gentlemen and thank you Theo of JTyran Eastwood...I shall return and I will tell everyone I know of the great experience I had. Thank you again. Peace! Adon.
If it is raining you do not want to go this salon you will have to walk a distance...when i first walked in there was one of the sylist there just sat at the desk & did not greet me he just stayed on his cell phone talking i sat there about 5 min then a man came and put a cape on me and i followed him to the back and sat in a chair about 10 min just sitting there until finally greeted by kevin who was very nice and made me feel welcome...the thing about this salon i have never been to a salon where everyone gets there hair put in rollers they never asked me what style i wanted....the owner did my hair & told me that i needed shaping up which i thought was a trim but ended up being a uneven cut and my hair is really tangled and the ends....IF YOU WANT TO PAY $105.00 FOR A TOUCH UP AND SO CALLED TRIM THEN GO...
WHERE TO GET YOUR HAIR 'DONE' !!!!!!!!: I first went to J Tyran last year when I stayed at the Sheraton next door. My hair needed doing and I figured that a quick wash a set would at least make me feel better. Well, I was in AWE. I needed a relaxer but didn't have the time that day (I was leaving on a flight out.) I left there with FLOWING hair. It moved, was so soft and managable that it looked as though I had a fresh relaxer. I went back down to B'ham in April and had a relaxer this time. I am so sensitive that I can count on one hand how many times that I have NOT burned. I had the BEST experience with a relaxer in my LIFE!!! No burn, no tingle, nothing. My hair was even bouncier and healthier looking this time. I am going to Atlanta later this month and am going to make the 2 1/2 hour drive just to get my hair done. IT IS THAT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!
By the way, I am from Massachusetts and am trying to make sure that I get down to B'ham a few times a year just to make sure my hair stays this good looking!!!

I agree. I have been going to this salon for 4 years and I have watched the salon go downwards. On my last visit I sat in the chair for one hour and fifteen minutes before I was called to the back. I watched people walk out after waiting for so long. You are right, no one greets whenever you enter the salon. Kevin is nice. Kevin has always relaxed and shampoo my hair, but he is no longer at the Richard Arrlington location. He is at their new salon. Whenever I call to make an appointment with Kevin, a stylist named Garfield always seem to answer the phone and he is always soo rude on the phone. He is not professional at all. You can not understand what he is saying and he gets upset whenever you asks him to repeat himself. Garfield is the person with the worst personality and the rudest in the salon.
